Biological Treatment Systems
Swift biological systems are compact, skid mounted ready to use biological treatment systems. These systems use revolutionary "Moving bed bio reactor" technology which dramatically reduces the process time and makes these systems extremely compact as compared to the traditional biological treatment systems. The system are delivered prefabricated, pre-piped, and skid mounted. The overall dimensions of the systems are so chosen that they can be easily transported by road or by sea. All the required equipment such as pumps, blowers, meters, control system etc. are mounted on the front side of the system and have easy access. This machinery compartment can also be provided with lockable doors. The systems can be easily transported from place to place.
Swift bio system use the bio film principle. The bio film is grown on specially designed plastic elements which provide a large surface area for the bio film to grow on. A large number of small elements are kept in suspension in the bio-reactor. These elements form the 'Bio-media'. The media is circulated in the bio reactor by blowing air through the same under pressure. The air pressure moves the bio media in circular motion. At the same time the air current provides the required Oxygen to the bio mass. Slowly a bio-film gets developed on the bio media. The media provides large surface area for the bio-film to grow and the circular motion of the media ensures that all parts of the media get enough Oxygen from the air. In conventional static media bio-reactors, "Black patches" are formed within the media which do not receive any air supply. This happens, because air that is blown in, finds easiest path, thereby bypassing some of the bio-media. In Swift systems this is avoided, as the media is kept moving continuously. The biological treatment is followed by accelerated settling system where the sediments settle down and clear effluent is discharged.
Generally all systems are designed as 3 stage systems and have 3 compartments. These systems can produce effluent with BOD less than 30 PPM. In case BOD up to 80 PPM is acceptable, even 2 stage systems could be used which are economical. The quality of the effluent water very easily meets the requirements of the pollution control boards and can be reused again for gardening, irrigation etc. A filtration unit can also be added after the biological treatment to make the water useful for toilets, wash, laundry etc.

The industrial effluent treatment systems are slightly different from the domestic ones. These systems have additional equipments for precise flow measurement, pH meters and chemical dosing pumps.
